Frequently Asked Questions

Which unit is suitable for my vehicle?
The initial consideration is engine capacity. Then an assessment is made of vehicle size and the loads to which it will be subjected. For instance, is the vehicle a heavily laden work utility or is it being used to tow a boat or a van or is it turbo charged or is it both turbo charged and towing? Depending on this assessment, we might recommend the installation of a unit that is one or two sizes bigger than is usual for a vehicle of similar engine capacity.

Why go up in size?
The tin-based catalyst that is at the heart of the Fuelmate works by adding microscopic tin alloy particles to create the catalyst effect on fuel. It must be added in the correct ratio for a particular vehicle and its use. If a vehicle is using more fuel because of its workload, the correct ratio is maintained by going up one or more sizes of catalyst unit.

How long will the unit last?
The Fuelmate catalyst comes with a 5 year 500,000kms factory warranty for cars. The unit will last longer than this but we recommend its replacement at this point to ensure ongoing maximum results.

How hard is it to fit a Fuelmate unit?
The Fuelmate comes with mounting bar atttached, metal attaching bracket, brass fittings, hose clamps, thread sealant and full instructions. If you are mechanically minded, with hands-on experience, you should be able to complete a car installation in less than one hour. Trucks may take up to two hours.
